Linguistic and cultural text interpretation in the course of American literature

The acticle is devoted to linguistic and cultural text interpretation at the example of O.Henry’s story «Gifts of the magi». This approach provides deep insight into understanding of the story content. The story was discussed by American and Russian students that revealed the approach of today’s students to O.Henry’s romantic ideas and resulted in the discussion of national stereotypes.
