Treatment of personality disorders in later life

Distinguishing the geriatric direction in psychiatry is not only evidence based but also confirmed by clinical experience. Dividing patients into age groups reflects different approaches to their treatment. Typology of personality disorders carried out in ICD-10 mostly corresponds to formation and decompensation of personality traits occurring in later life. It is necessary to take into account in psychopathological and therapeutic assessment physiologic alterations and chronic diseases.
