In ancient and medieval times the Crimean Peninsula with its territories was a place of historical attempts where the Chuvash ancestors tried to create their own state. The ancestors of the Chuvash people (Bulgarians and other oguropagan tribes) arrived in the Crimea as a part of the Hun's Horde in about 375. They took an active part in mutual assimilation of the peoples of the Peninsula in the early middle ages. Thousands of ethnic Chuvash and the natives of the Chuvash region played a great role in the military, political and economic development of the Crimea.
