Introduction. Nowadays within the conditions of humanization of the penitentiary system the educational work dealing with the resocialization of a convict has become one of the essential instruments of convicts’ treatment. Discussion of the Survey and Results. The survey of the organization of club activity among prison population on the bases of detention facilities of the Directorate of Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Vologda region proves that the number of convicts involved into such activity is insufficient. The club activity isn’t used to change the personal inner world and in practice there is a shortage of clubs aimed at stimulating processes of self-cognition and self-development, the processes that can influence the alteration of convicts’ life-purpose guidelines. Thereby it is necessary to promote the educative potential of club activity among prison population of corrections in order to rehabilitate and adapt them to outside life. Conclusions. Organization of club activity at the detention facilities is one of the important tasks of teaching staff and it must be primarily aimed at spiritual and moral development and education of convicts and then at their recreation. It is necessary to fill the substance of club activity with such components as reflection, a person’s communication with himself, searching purposes of life, the development of existential sphere of convicts, their creativity, communicative skills and self-generating initiative.
