Epiphany woman: questions of semantics and spatiotemporal aspects of the image (based on the materials of North Karelian mythological prose)

The article reviews one of the most ancient mythological characters existent in the north of Karelia only. The Following functions are analyzed: appearance, time and advent of the Epiphany woman. In a special manner, this character identifies spatiotemporal aspects of the most sacred period of the year, the eve of the Epiphany. A duration during which not only a subject of the action, a person but also the time and location find themselves in a liminal position.
