In the period of 2,500 millennia the landscape of the Taman Peninsula hasundergone substantial changes associated with the evolution of the Kuban River estuary, impact of the sea and tectonic processes. The impact from the sea level is the most significant. This paper is aimed to provide an overview and carry out the analysis of underwaterexplorations documenting the actual conditions of the Taman Peninsula coastline duringthe Classical Period and the Middle Ages. Wells identified under the water along withother numerous structures are of paramount importance as they allow the researchers todetermine the actual sea level in a relevant period. The new approach to tackle the issuebuilds on anchoring berths. The pavement discovered at the depth of 3-3,2 m enabledV. D. Blavatsky to argue that over the past 2,250 years the sea level in the Taman Bayhad increased by not less than four meters. The reconstruction of the sea level based onthe anchors found on the seabed demonstrates that over the past 2,500 years the sea levelnear the Taman Peninsula coastline increased by 5,5 m at the most.
