The article is devoted to the investigation of the genesis and metaphor functioning in the regional fiction based on the cognitive-pragmatic approach. The cognitive-pragmatic properties of metaphors are identified. It is indicated that they are determined by the multifunctional essence of the author's and reader's linguistic consciousness.
