Carnival bildungs roman

Author of the article is to try to see F.M. Dostoevsky “Adolescent” as Bildungsroman (Goethe’s type of Education Novel). M.M. Bakhtin was first who applied this point of view (by E. Krasnoshchekova) to the Russian literature (for which Russeau’s idyllic type is more convenient than Goethe’s one). But more complicated concept of Bildungsroman as Carnival Novel (as Bakhtin further developed it) was applied. It’s important because Bakhtin distorted Dostoevsky by Carnival (as Russian but not Western scientists thinks). For that purpose, main Bakhtin’s works of 1920-1930s were considered as whole cycle “studying of speaking man” (V. Alpatov), whose freedom brings him to “carnivalization of world, thought and word”. From this point of view in “Adolescent” Dostoevsky tried to solve tasks, which Goethe avoided (by changing his Meister’s mission from the theatrical to business under the secret “Tower Society” influence). Arcady Dolgoruky starts from Meister decision - to take billionaire’s “rothschild-like” language and start seeking of speaking “ideals”. Method which was applied by Bakhtin to analyze Dostoevsky’s heroes is identical to allegorical exegetics of ancient texts, applied by Makar’s Dolgoruky tradition. Thanks to the meeting with Makar, Adolescent, instead of “non-being establishing”, get possibility to enter the “Big Time Dialogue” and overcome “carnival temptations” (V. Tjupa), discovered by Bakhtin.
