Judaism and Jews in Kievan Rus of the X-XII centuries: historiographical aspect

Issues related to the spread of Judaism in Kievan Rus X-XII centuries are among the complex and controversial, which is expressed in ambiguous approaches to this issue in historiography. This article analyzes the hypotheses and approaches related, in particular, to the degree of influence of the Kyiv Jews on the ancient Russian statehood and culture, with the origin of the Kyiv Jews. Conclusions are drawn about the main directions that have developed in the study of the problem, there is an increase in interest in the spread of Judaism in Kievan Rus among modern domestic historians.
