“Historical view” of Apollon Grigoriev and the philosophy of F. W. J. Schelling

The article discusses the influence of the philosophical ideas of the German idealist thinker Schelling on the formation of the “historical view” of the largest Russian literary critic, the original philosopher, theorist of the soil movement Apollon Alexandrovich Grigoriev (1822-1864). Analyzing the volumes of “History of Russia” by S. M. Solovyov, Grigoriev comes to the conclusion that the Hegelian method is used in it in relation to Russian history, which results in the loss of the period of Ancient Rus’ from Russian history. Based on the material of the article “Belinsky and the Negative View in Literature”, it is shown that the pathos of Grigoriev’s criticism of the philosophical and historical concept of Hegel-Belinsky is in the separation of the specific, peculiar in national formations from the logical abstraction of the human race.
