Research of the data characterizing the defendant's personality: problematic aspects of theory and law enforcement practice

The system characteristics of a person who has committed a crime determine the complexity of the use of information about him in the course of criminal proceedings. This statement applies entirely to the identity of the defendant. Since the establishment of data on the personality of a given subject in court proceedings is directly related to the solution of a whole range of criminal law and procedural issues, such activity must meet certain requirements, compliance with which would ensure an effective solution of these issues. However, in practice, regarding the investigation of the defendant's identity, there are many issues of a problematic nature that require their resolution. The article analyzes the main problems associated with the study of the defendant's personality. The ways of their solution are suggested.
