Investigation of the archaeological complexes in the vicinity of Bychikha and Turan mountains at the Middle Yenisei

One of the topical tasks for archeology of the Minusinsk Basin is a complex study of the archaeological microdomains which are located in the coastal zone of the Yenisei and its tributaries (now Krasnoyarsk reservoir and its gulfs), connected with a dominant height (mountain) and contain numerous sites of various types (burials, settlements, rock art, epigraphy, workshops, places of worship, etc), dated to various periods. The reservoir, on the one hand, destroyed thousands of information sources, but on the other hand it revealed what was hidden in the soil. In particular, during the periods of drawdown of the water level at the bottom of the reservoir one can see the remains of settlements and other monuments. Analysis of the occasional findings adds significant information to the cultural-chronological column of each microdomain. Of a great importance is a detailed study of rock art imagery at the dominating mountains and on the kurgan slabs, while their attribution can be verified via the correlation with datings for objects and sites of other types. The paper presents such complex studies on the example of two Middle Yenisei microdomains: areas in the vicinity of the mountains of Bychikha and Turan.
