Currently, the soil cover is systematically exposed to unfavorable factors, which negatively affects its fertility. One of the options for increasing soil fertility is the use of composts. In this work, zoo compost (biohumus "Germetia") of industrial cultivation of the larvae of the fly Hermetia illucens on a complex substrate containing agricultural waste was used as a fertility improver. The studied zoo compost was a loose, weakly caking, fine-grained brown mass, with a weak smell of ammonia, with a predominant particle size of 1-3 mm. The volume weight of the compost is 0.430 g / cm3, which makes it possible to loosen the soil. Structural soil absorbs water well (the introduction of zoo compost into the soil doubles its moisture capacity) and sharply reduces surface runoff, and, consequently, soil washout and erosion. The main nutrients of zoo compost are in the form of various compounds of humic acids; contain the necessary macro- and microelements. The zoo compost is rich in saprophytic micro flora useful for soil and plants and can be used for growing vegetables, including cucumbers, as one of the most common vegetable crops. It has been experimentally established that zoo compost can be used as an organic fertilizer, since its indicators meet the requirements of GOST 33830-2016. The field studies have shown positive dynamics of growth and development of cucumbers "Dalnevostochny 27" type. There is an increase in germination by almost 20%, an increase in the number of cucumbers formed (from 13 pieces / m2 to 24 pieces / m2); the increase in the yield of one cucumber plant increased from 22.16 to 240.59, the yield from a plot from 63.75 to 692.68 g. It has been determined that the optimal dose is spring application in the amount of 2 t / ha.
