The use of land resources for tourism and recreation in the Central ecological zone of the Baikal natural territory (the case of Irkutsk region)

The article considers the structure of the land fund of the central ecological zone of the Baikal Natural Territory in 3 coastal regions of Irkutsk region (Irkutsk, Olkhonsky, Slyudyansky). The author analyzes the permitted and real recreational use of land of various categories at the grass-roots “precinct” level. It is revealed that the sites allocated for recreational use are mainly confined to the coast of Lake Baikal, most of them are within walking distance from the shoreline. The largest number of sites allocated for tourism and recreation facilities are located on the lands of settlements and lands of specially protected territories and objects. A smaller number of them are on agricultural land and forest fund lands. The allocation of sites for the implementing tourist activity on the lands of the reserve, industry and other special purposes is of a single nature.
