The article considers the last foreign policy project of G. Julius Caesar. According to Plutarch’s story, he intended to march on Parthia, and then return to Rome around the Caspian Sea, across the Northern Black Sea coast and the Balkans. Comparing the information from various sources, the author refutes this fantastic theory and suggests that, in fact, Caesar did not prepare a huge aggressive campaign against the eastern neighbor, but rather planned a set of measures aimed at ensuring the security of the borders.
