The characteristic of white colored seeds forms of sesame, created by method of physical mutagenesis

The characteristic of forms of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.), received by method of physical mutagenesis with the subsequent repeated individual selection of best plants on a complex of useful signs is given in article. Selection work was carried out on a white colored seeds forms of sesame. The collection sample of the Republican botanical garden (Tiraspol) of sesame of unknown origin relating to Asian group has been served as an initial material for receiving mutant posterity. The seeds of a collection sample were irradiated by radioactive isotope of 60Co. An individual selections of a white colored seeds forms of sesame from mutant plants of different generations were made. The posterities of the sixth mutant generation were characterized on the following signs: height of plants, the number of escapes of the first order, height of laying of the first branch, length of a productive part of the main escape, the number of boxes on the main escape, all boxes on a plant, the weight of 1000 pieces of seeds, mass of seeds from a plant, box length. Values of signs are processed by method of variation statistics. The most perspective forms are characterized by a large number of escapes of the first order up to 10-12 pieces on a plant, low laying of the first branch - 12-15 cm from the surface of the soil, with the big length of the productive part of the main escape reaching 110 cm with a large number of boxes on the main escape up to 70 pieces, at their general number of boxes on a plant up to 295 pieces, with high efficiency, on average up to 45 g from one plant. A height of plants, box length, weight of 1000 pieces of seeds are the main signs differ in big uniformity from studied. The average uniformity characterizes the length of a productive part of the main escape, the number of boxes on a plant. A number of escapes of the first order, height of laying of the first branch, all boxes on a plant, the mass of seeds from one plant were not uniformed signs, with big coefficient of variation, more than 20 %. In general forms with a complex of useful signs, which can be used as ancestors in selection of the new sorts of sesame, suitable for cultivation in the conditions of Pridnestrovian region, are defined.
