The state of the future in the views of representatives of the German social-democracy in the late XIX - early XX century

The article contains the analysis of the approaches of the theoreticians of the German Social-Democratic Party in the late XIX - early XX century to the problem of the future state system. The author examines the reasons for the essential reluctance of Karl Marx and his ideological heirs to disclose to ordinary party members and to the society the features of the future socialist society; the article reviews a certain evolution of these views in the ensuing time and the reasons of such evolution.
