"The main value for the teacher is the development of the personality of the pupil": the 165-th anniversary of V. P. Vakhterov

The name of Vasily Porfiryevich Vakhterov (1853-1924) is well known to domestic teachers. The unifying and guiding principle in V. P. Vakhterov’s pedagogy was the idea of development of the pupil’s personality, which determined the approaches to the creation of “new pedagogy”, recognizing the desire for progressive development as the basis of human nature and requiring the most careful attitude to the natural inclinations and aspirations of the child.
