Heterogeneity of the adult children of alcoholics from a position of suicidology on the example of a men's cogort

The aim of the study was to study the phenomenon of heterogeneity of “Adult Children of Alcoholics” (ACOAs) depending on the gender of parenteral individuals suffering from alcohol abuse in the population of young people (males). Materials and methods: To implement the goal, we examined 229 male students: 105 of them had an alcohol abusing parent (boys - parent with alcohol abuse - BPA), 124 were seen as a control group. During the frontal study, the respondents of the BPA group found a marked disadvantage in relation to suicidal and narcological indicators compared with the control group, which was expected. Later, the general group of BPA was divided by us into two subgroups: boys with an alcoholic father (BFA), and boys with an alcoholic mother (BMA), after which the data of the subgroups were compared with the control group. Results: in 14,9% of cases, respondents from the BFA group had a suicide attempt, in 36,5% cases a history of suicidal ideation was reported. The corresponding figures in the control group were 1,6% and 15,3%, respectively...
