Gender psychosocial risk factors of alcohol abuse development among older drinkers

In order to identify gender psychosocial risk factors of alcohol abuse development among older drinkers (older than 60 years old) there was held a comprehensive clinical research. There participated 462 patients suffering from alcohol abuse (ICD-10 - F10.2-10.7). Regarding gender factor the following two groups were distinguished: males (n=391) and females (n=71) older than 60 years old. Psychosocial risk factors are a certainly rare reason for alcohol abuse among males as compared with females. There were determined psychosocial risk factors of alcohol abuse development typical for male and female genders.
