The article is devoted to the issues of restricting the competing gas supplies to the world market and the outcome of this situation. The authors reveal the main aspects of the emergence of new possible US sanctions against Russia. Particular attention is drawn to the legal framework of international law. According to the Federal Customs Service, last year trade with countries that support sanctions against Moscow, has increased significantly. Attempts by Washington and its allies to undermine Russia’s foreign trade have completely failed. The question is why this is happening and what benefits Russia gets in this situation. Sanctions only helped Moscow to improve foreign trade indicators, analysts state. According to the FCS, last year both trade turnover increased by 17 percent, and trade surplus by 62 percent. Particularly noticeable is the movement in trade with countries subjected to US pressure. Thus, Russia’s trade with Turkey increased by 15 percent, imports from Iran – by almost 36 percent, while exports to the Islamic Republic declined by eight percent, so that in general, trade increased insignificantly. Trade with Cuba, with which the US administration’s relations are deteriorating every day, has expanded by a third over the year. The problem of exporting LNG from Russia is raised.
