The structure of the tibial periosteum of adult dogs has been studied on 1, 3 and 5 day after flexion osteoclasis and osteosynthesis with the Ilizarov fixator. The periosteum has been established to maintain its integrity after surgery, and its morphofunctional condition reflects the different phases of acute traumatic inflammation. In the first three days the thickness of periosteum in diastasis zone increases considerably at the expense of the local edema and the swelling of collagen fibers, and after 5 days its thickening is associated with angiogenesis, cellular proliferation and biosynthesis activation. The periosteal bone trabeculae formed were revealed on 3 and 5 day after surgery.
