Method of quantitative analysis of microstructure images is offered. The method is based on binary decomposition of image intensity field. It is shown that the results of binary decomposition can give the criteria similar to fractal dimension. Some results of application of the offered method to the analysis of optical and scanning probe images of composite microstructure are discussed.
