Formation of ideas about the area of figures in the school mathematics course

The article is devoted to the methodological features of studying the topic "Squares of figures" in a school geometry course in the context of the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard. This topic is offered at the state final certification in the form of BSE and USE. Therefore, theoretical and practical research on this topic is relevant at the present time and is conditioned by the needs of general education training of students.
