The phenomenon of women's protest in rural areas in the Moscow region during collectivization

The article presents an interpretation of women's protest in rural areas during the period of collectivization, the so-called «women's riots». The author attempts to explain the causes of this phenomenon, as well as to analyze the behavioral and motivational characteristics of rural women, against the background of events occurring and related to collectivization. The author considers the pattern, which consists in the frequent dominance of female protest over the male one. The documentary material is based on archival sources of the Ryazan and Kaluga districts of the Moscow Region.
