Phenomenon of organizational flexibility and the role of information technologies

In today's rapidly changing environment, the flexibility of the organization, that is, the ability of organizations to sense environmental changes and quickly respond to them, is an important factor in determining its success. The paper defines and describes organizational flexibility in contrast to similar concepts in the management literature. The basic capabilities supporting organizational flexibility in the context of the role of information technology and digital options are explored. A method for measuring organizational flexibility is proposed.
