Factors of experiencing gerontological violence

Paper considers psychological aspects of gerontological violence in the form of ideas of older persons about its causes. Typologies of probable factors of gerontological violence, which were developed in the logic of progression of scientific cognition, are considered. Results of the empirical study of specifics of experiencing gerontological violence are presented: predominant form of gerontological violence, characteristics of actions associated with a certain type of violence, socio-psychological characteristics of the “offender”, socio-psychological factors that contribute to the use of gerontological violence from the viewpoint of older persons, the quality of life in older persons experiencing gerontological violence and without such experience. Features of experiencing gerontological violence in older persons living in social institutions and at home are shown.
