Factors of dysfunctional family interrelations in the structure of adverse childhood experience in substance addicted patients

The factor structure of adverse childhood events in substance addicted patients was studied. Three categories of dysfunctional family relationships were identified: ineffective and unsustainable communication (mental illness and substance use by family members, divorce of parents, separation from parents or death of one/both parents, as well as their imprisonment; non-authoritative guidance and lack of support from parents (emotional abuse and emotional neglect, partner violence between parents/guardians); the use of open force against the child or the use of his feebleness (physical neglect, physical and sexual (by parents/guardians) abuse). It was suggested to carry out retrospective diagnostics of children's traumatic events indirectly, through identification of factors of the dysfunctional family of parents/guardians of substance addicted patients.
