This article is a response to the article by T. Yu. Fomina, published in no. 2 of the Khristianskoye chteniye [Christian Reading], 2018. Te article revisits the source of information about the beginning of the Turov episcopacy, including the noticia episcopatuum, published by the Darrouses of the chronicle, the Kiev Pechersky Paterikon, the Turov letters, published by Ya. N. Shchapov, Titmar Merseburgsky's Chronicle and several others. On the basis of a detailed analysis, the author came to the conclusion that the notations of the Russian bishops preserved in the later lists are more evidence of the history of the Church in the second half of the fourteenth century and hardly provide reliable information about the appearance of the Turov episcopacy, but they are in tune with the data of the Turov charter more recent lists. Te initial history of the Turov episcopacy is restored on the basis of the Chronicle of Titmar of Merseburg, which is one of the most reliable historical sources that fits well into the general context of the historical development of Rus in the early 11th century
