Dual-energy computed tomography as an effective diagnostic method for detection of focal liver lesions

Бесплатный доступ

Early and accurate diagnosis of focal liver lesions is necessary in modern clinical practice. The differential diagnosis of benign liver formations and metastases in cancer patients is particularly important, since the presence or absence of secondary liver damage affects treatment tactics and survival. Dual-energy computed tomography is a new promising method for the diagnosis of focal liver lesions, which allows not only visual but also quantitative analysis of focal liver lesions, contributing to an increase in the sensitivity and specificity of the method compared to traditional computed tomography. In this study, we demonstrated that a combined analysis of traditional computed and dual-energy computed tomography leads to a reduction of the time of data interpretation, an increase in the diagnostic confidence of researchers, a simplified identification of foci in the liver, and an increase in the accuracy of the diagnosis.
