The analysis of research in the practical activities of special training of university students revealed that methods of spiritual and moral infl uence are used in their activities during the professional training of boys and girls. The authors of the article present the results of a study on the development of the spiritual and moral culture of students in higher education institutions in the leisure activities of students. The criteria for determining the level of spiritual and moral culture of university students are: cognitive, aimed at determining the level of systemic knowledge about the basic spiritual and moral qualities of youth; behavioral, determining the student's ability to embody basic spiritual and moral qualities in practical activity; refl exive, allowing to identify the ability to analyze actions of a spiritual and moral nature.The article analyzes the results of a survey among students of the Faculty of Socio Cultural Technologies of the Kemerovo State Institute of Culture, based on the analysis of which a program for the development of spiritual and moral culture of students is presented.The authors are confi dent that promising directions for the study of this problem can be considered:• creation of a unified methodological base for the study of the problems of the development of spiritual and moral culture of students at the university;• creation of a database of diagnostic techniques to identify the level of development of spiritual and moral culture of students;• creation of a material and technical base, educational, methodological and scientifi cmethodological support, organizational, pedagogical and psychologicalpedagogical conditions for the eff ective development of spiritual and moral culture of students in the cultural and leisure activities of higher education institutions.
