The voluntary help to the border troops in the soviet far east, 1939-1945

Based on archival materials, the article identifies the number of volunteer units of the Khabarovsk border district of the USSR and the main tasks they performed on the eastern borders of the country in 1939-1945. The author summarizes that in the Soviet Far East the units participated in the border security as guides and observers, patrolled border zones, and took part in regular raids aimed at identifying persons illegally residing in the border areas. The use of volunteer units in that period enabled the state to increase border security and to reduce the burden on the border troops.
