In the paper, the authors analyze the changes in the regional demographic situation, the problems of migration; the size of population dynamics in rural settlements and possible changes due to the implementation of investment projects and federal targeted programs in the Jewish Autonomous region. It is found out that for all rural areas and settlements of the region, there is an unfavorable situation connected with a rapid reduction in the number and density of the population due to low birth rates and migration loss caused by low living standards of the rural population. The authors show that in real life the investment projects and federal targeted programs appear to be ineffective. The authors propose a number of measures to improve the current negative situation in the region.
