The church school as an educational and cultural center of the Russian province in the end of the XIX-the beginning of the XX century is considered by the author on the basis of a wide range of sources. The long-term practical experience of educational institutions of the Department of the Orthodox confession in solving educational tasks among children and adults is analyzed in the article.
