Price of crime: challenges in the calculation and crime minimization

Introduction: the article examines the costs of law enforcement and their correlation with the damage caused by crime. The problems of the lack of a methodology for calculating the "price" of crime are identified, and solutions to reduce costs in this area are proposed. Materials and Methods: the research materials were statistical materials and scientific papers. The methodological basis of the research is the General scientific dialectical method of cognition of social phenomena, as well as private scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, comparative legal, formal logical methods and the method of legal interpretation. Results: attention is drawn to the need to increase funding for "preventive activities", which in General will have a positive economic and social effect for the state and society. As the main direction of reducing the "cost" of crime, it is necessary to actively use the achievements of scientific and technological progress. Discussion and Conclusions: it is proposed to develop and legislate methods for determining the "price" of crime, and keeping records of the costs of its constituent elements.
