The role of the ancient culture in the aesthetics of the biedermeier style: to the question of the integration

The author invistigates the role of the ancient culture in the forming of Biedermeierstil by focusing on E. Mörike’ novella «Mozarts Reise nach Prag». Two concepts of the artists (in the romantic culture and in Biedermeier) are compared in the article. The main conclusion of the author is the following: the use of the images of the antient mythology allows to overcome the tragic antinomy between the material and spiritual spheres in Biedermeierstil.
