Analysis of the impact of digitalization and the internet of things on labor productivity in the economy

The relevance of the research is determined by the formation of an increase in theenvironment and infrastructure of the digital economy, which is based on industry 4.0technologies, in particular the Internet of things. The article discusses the theoretical and applied aspects of the influence of information and digital technologies on sustainableproductivity in the sectors of the economy. The research to assess the impact of informationtechnology on labor productivity is based on the analysis of statistical data on the Russianand global economies in the areas of information and digital infrastructure, the use ofinformation and digital technologies, readiness for digitalization and production based oninformation and digital technologies along the entire value chain. The research addressedthe issues of quantitative and qualitative impact of information and digital technologies; therelationship between the information and digital infrastructure, its use in manufacturingindustries and labor productivity. Digitalization and the Internet of Things is an emergingtechnology that has the potential to affect significantly economy structure and productiontechnologies along with entire value chain of products. Analyzing and evaluating the impactof digital information technologies on productivity is an important step in evaluating“economic value added”, investments in digital technologies and the Internet of thingsdesigned to promote innovation. A research of various sources confirms the assumption thatin countries with low, medium and high labor productivity, different factors influence theoverall labor productivity. We also note that a large number of studies have been devoted tothe direct impact of information and digital technologies and the Internet of things onproductivity, but very few studies of the analysis of side effects. In the course of the research,the positive impact of the Internet of things on productivity in foreign countries washighlighted, and digitalization and the Internet of things in the Russian economy are onlydeveloping.
