Wear and wear resistance analysis of hard alloy tools after laser treatment

The investigations of laser pulse treatment influence on the structure, phase composition of the tungstencobalt hard alloys and cutting tools operation characteristics, produced on its base were conducted. The optimal regimes of laser irradiation and cutting regimes when the greatest increasing of the hardened tools wear resistance was provided have been determined. It was shown that laser treatment with the optimal regimes provides the lowering of cutting temperature and decreasing variation coefficient of tools wear resistance. The interconnection between observed increasing hardening tools wear resistance and structure-phase changes in the laser treatment zone has been determined.
