Analysis of convicts' psychological readiness for release

Release of a person from prisons is as stressful as his commitment to the penitentiary. Each of the imprisonment phases has its own psychological specifics. It should be noted that being imprisoned convicts have the right to qualified psychological assistance. During preparation for release psychological assistance is of special character. It must be aimed to form convicts' psychological readiness for life after release. This article considers psychological readiness as the type of convicts' activity with its own structure, that is components, mechanisms of their formation and system-building factors. Convicts' psychological readiness for release is estimated from the theory of systematic genesis of activity. This approach enables the author to reveal the structure of convicts' psychological readiness for release and establish the methods of diagnosing the level of readiness. The author reveals peculiarities of psychological structure of convicts' readiness for release in different age: 19-29 years, 30-49 years, 50 years and older. Psychological analysis determined “reference points” in the structures of readiness of convicts of different ages.
