Environmental safety and ecological and economic condition of the territory play a significant role in the life and economy of the region. The article pays special attention to the environmental policy of the region, which should take into account the accumulated pollution over previous periods, the current state and the need to modernize treatment facilities, the state of nature protection facilities, the volume of attracting investment resources for environmental projects and activities. The analysis of the main factors and indicators affecting the ecological and economic state of the Rostov region is carried out. The volume of investment and current costs allocated for the protection of the natural environment, as well as changes in the formation, use and disposal of waste, the dynamics of the application of fertilizers and pesticides in the region for 2016-2020 have been investigated. The main problems of the ecological and economic state of the region and the directions of their solution are presented. The ecological attractiveness of the territory is significant in the structure of the investment potential of the region. In this regard, it is necessary to use modern production technologies and apply technologies to clean up emissions and discharges into the environment, to attract investments in environmental protection, to stimulate in every possible way economic entities applying environmental technologies through tax incentives, discounts on interest on loans, and the provision of state guarantees.
