The article is devoted to the activities of bishop Kirill (Naumov) at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, where he studied from 1843 to 1847. Immediately after graduating from the academy and taking monastic vows, he was left in it as a teacher of moral theology, passing the path from a bachelor to a professor. Being the instructor of the Academy, Father Cyril wrote the work “Pastoral theology”, for which he was awarded with the degree of Doctor of Theology and, according to the recall of the bishop, later metropolitan Makary (Bulgakov), half of the Demidov Prize. This study of father Cyril was recommended as a textbook on moral theology in theological academies in the middle of the 19th century. Unfortunately, the completely successful research work of father Cyril was interrupted in 1857, when he was ordained a bishop and was appointed Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission to Jerusalem.
