"Genre" as the key problem of the Soviet cinema of the 1968-1985's. State, filmmakers, audience

1968-1985 years are unique in the history of national cinema during the intensity of interest and research interest in the phenomenon of genre cinema. Wave filmmakers "genre" issue was the subject of many theoretical works and articles. Many filmmakers were programs of reorientation of Soviet cinema on rails "commercial" genres. Film Sociology activated and blooms at the same time in the Soviet Union. The article describes a set of organizational, economic and socio-cultural parameters of the functioning of the Soviet cinema 1968-1985's, which naturally led to an increased interest in the genre in the 1970s: only a small number of domestic films produced had the interest of the audience and bring profits rolling; lack of economic mechanisms of "feedback" from the viewing audience; steady drop in cinema attendance and the drop in earnings from the film distribution; expressed bundle audience of the USSR; reversal of the Soviet cinema in the mainstream "of the thematic plan"; filmmakers actively sought to create interesting films; development of television affecting the film industry of its specificity (mass, conventional). Determined contradictions of genre searches of national cinema of the 1970s, affected the structure of the repertoire and the artistic form of films. It is concluded that the paradoxes and distortion, born in 1970 in relation to the cinematic genre, still are prevalent in the post-Soviet cinematic space.
