The author considers influence of personal psychological peculiarities on the attitude to innovations. The basis for this research is found in the complex psychodiagnostics of 98 officers of different departments and units from penitentiary service, and 206 future specialists studying at law faculty of the Academy of Law Management of the Federal Penal Service of Russia (120 first -year cadets and 86 fifth-year cadets). The article reveals that due to peculiarities and elements of professional mentality (value and sense, cognitive prognostic and regulating) the personnel’s organizational professional identification is improperly established first of all in the sphere of innovations imposed from above by the chief personnel. Penitentiary officers having decreased indices of career motivation and cognitive prognostic activity experience cognitive disagreement about their future as they inadequately perceive general direction of organizational and other changes in the Russian penitentiary system.
