Purpose: Research of the role of the process of commercialization of the legal profession in shaping the identity of each advocate and the advocacy as a whole. Methodology: The authors used the historical and legal method and of the methods and systematic scientific analysis and synthesis. Results: By the author studies the issues of identity of advocates. On the basis of the conducted analysis of scientific literature identified the main conceptual approaches concerning the role of the processes of commercialization of the legal profession in the choice of profession and further formation of the personality of an advocate in the modern period. Novelty/originality/value: Article possesses the high scientific value as in it of the first analyzed peculiarity of the process of commercialization of the legal profession in the aspect of self-determination individual and group entity - of each advocate and the advocacy as a whole.
