Professional activity peculiarities' impact on police officers' psycho-physiological state

Introduction. The subject-matter of the problem is police officers' professional deformation, its modern state and features. The aim of the research is to reveal the characteristic features and elements of professional deformation in the conditions of the modern reality for further employment in the work of psychologists and police officers' supervisors. Materials and Methods. The authors used the method of analysis of scientific literature, method of questionnaire and interviewing. The survey conducted in 2019 involved forty-two correspondence department students and ninety-six trainees of professional training department of the Siberian Law Institute of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (Krasnoyarsk). Results and Discussion. The authors considered the features of manifestation of such factors of professional deformation as emotional hard-heartedness, communication restraint, extreme criticality of perceiving information, prevalence of job interests over personal concerns, disregard of norms of ethics (law). It should be noted that a number of the respondents have specific features of the development of these attributes not typical for their term of service in police. The authors substantiate the danger of insignificant manifestation of police officers' professional deformation as the most frequent phenomenon serving as the background factor for development of negative states, disciplinary misbehavior and negatively influencing the formation of young officers. The indicators revealing the police officers' professional deformation are specified as well as the peculiarities of evading the irritants which cause professional deformation in female police officers: increased vertical and horizontal conflictness, emotional rigidness, evading the problems without its actual solution. Conclusions. Professional deformation is a complex continuous phenomenon with a changing dynamics and modern peculiarities of its manifestation. Prevention of professional deformation must not be only of a general character but also of an individual one and under actual comprehending involvement of a supervisor.
