Universities joining the international scientific and educational space: experience and problems (experience of the European North of Russia)

The article examines the experience, problems and main directions of the internationalization of Russian university education in the late twentieth and early twenty- first century. The author reveals the geography of scientific and educational cooperation, the characteristics and features of this process using the materials of the universities of the European North of Russia. Results are thoroughly analyzed, the most significant implemented projects, the current state and prospects of this activity are indicated.
