One of the main, basic structural elements in the training process of handball players is a microcycle, time intervals of which range from 2 to several 7 days. There are also various types of microcycles: retractive, basic, control and preparatory, leading, competitive and recovery. However, up to the present, the content structure of these elements of the training process of handball players is absent. This situation negatively affects the entire system of sports training in this sport and, as a consequence, at the result level demonstrated by Russian handball players in the international arena. The aim of the work was the formation of the content structure of various types of microcycles of the training process of highly qualified handball players. As well as the construction of model ranges (%) of various types of training of highly qualified handball players in individual microcycles of the training process. In the research process, the following methods were used: analysis and synthesis of data from specialized literature, questioning of specialists, mathematical and statistical processing of the obtained digital material. The conducted studies show that, according to experts, the content structure of each of the six types of microcycles of the training process is multicomponent and includes from 9 to 10 types of training. Moreover, only two types of microcycles - retractive and recovery ones do not contain competition as one of the types of sports training. In the four remaining, this component is present, having a share of training time from 1,2 ± 0.44% in the base microcycle to 40,1 ± 1.68% in the competition one.The totality of the information obtained allows to calculate the model ranges of the rational shares of the types of training in each individual microcycle of qualified hand-ball players. The latter can serve as the basic basis for the construction of sports training in this sport on the corresponding microcycles of the training process and as an opportunity to increase the level of results demonstrated by Russian handball players
