BRICS countries in the world market of intellectual property

Relevance and objectives of the study. The strengthening of the globalization processes and the spread of new technologies in the world economy are closely interconnected with the trade in objects and intellectual property rights Currently, the problem of the relationship that is developing in the field of intellectual property is gaining incredible popularity around the world. This is due to new stages in the life of society, characterized by the entry of mankind into a new information era, in which there is a struggle for information in all its manifestations. This struggle has not spared the BRICS countries either. According to experts, the global economy is shifting towards the East, where the economies of the BRICS countries are becoming a new development factor. The economic growth of the BRICS countries can play one of the essential roles in ensuring economic and financial stability at the global level and contribute to the pace and effectiveness of overcoming problems in the functioning of the world economic system. The aim of the work is to identify the peculiarities of the position of the BRICS countries in the world market for intellectual property objects. Materials and methods. The World Intellectual Property Organization pays great attention to the protection of intellectual property rights, as well as the related infrastructure problems and the formation of an appropriate attitude towards intellectual property. However, the registration of data on registration of objects of copyright and related rights is not kept by WIPO, identification of the peculiarities of the situation of countries in the world market of intellectual property is carried out on objects of industrial intellectual property. When writing the work, depending on the characteristics of the tasks being solved, various methods of economic research were used: abstract-logical - when setting the goal and objectives of the research; system analysis - identifying the peculiarities of the position of countries in the world intellectual property market; comparative analysis - when determining the position of countries in terms of industrial intellectual property in the world market and other problems considered in the work; inductive and deductive methods - in identifying the goals of the strategy of developed countries and the BRICS member states to achieve leading positions in the world market for intellectual property objects. Results. The paper analyzes data on the dynamics of industrial property objects, in particular, patents, trademarks and industrial designs, in each of the countries under consideration; identified the goals of the strategy of developed countries to achieve leading positions in the world market for intellectual property; the position of the leading countries and the BRICS countries in the world market of intellectual property objects was determined. Findings. It has been established that China, a member of the BRICS, is the undisputed leader in the world market for intellectual property objects, ranking first in all categories: patents, trademarks and industrial designs. India, a member of the BRICS, closes the top 10 countries in the world market for intellectual property objects. Russia occupies 11th place in the world market of intellectual property objects. The leading positions are occupied by the most developed countries, which indicates the importance of intellectual property for the competitiveness of enterprises and states in the world market. An analysis of the dynamics of filing applications for registration of industrial property objects in developed countries showed that the predominant part in almost all of them is occupied by foreign applications, with a large share of applications coming from Chinese residents, which indicates the development of the national R&D system and the use of new technologies in all spheres of the economy. In the BRICS countries, residents of the countries occupy the largest share in filing applications for registration of industrial intellectual property, which indicates that improving cooperation in this area is carried out through the development of innovations and R&D at the national level.
