A comparative analysis of the diagnostics of psychopathies (personality disorders) during the inpatient military-psychiatric expertise in the Tomsk Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital in 1998 and 2003. Young man who were diagnosed with psychopathies constituted 28,3 % of all conscripts with mental disorders in 1998 and 62,1 % in 2003, this increase was mainly due to new diagnostic groups - transient and infantile personality disorder, which is not present in ICD-10 and domestic academic guidelines. Concept of transient personality disorder developed by military physicians contradicts generally accepted bases of identification of psychopa thies (personality disorders), and leads to over-diagnosis of this disease in conscripts. Criteria for the diagnosis of infantile personality disorder in conscripts and their fitness to military service in general have not been defined.
