“Words were burning like candles in the wind”: on a poem by Arseny Tarkovsky

The article is dedicated to the research of a poem “Wind” by Arseny Tarkovsky, focusing on such categories and phenomena as sound symbolism, synesthesia in art, especially interchangeability of auditory and kinesthetic modalities, as well as, features of tenses’ system of the text. The analysis reveals the reasons of difficulties in transferring impressionistic reflection into the framework of a scientific discourse, and suggests projecting some methods of the poem “Wind” analysis on Tarkovsky’s poetry as a whole.
